A PRACTICAL GUIDE FOR ARTISTS

What to Send Your China Social Media Team Before Your First Month

A useful first month starts with a clear handover. Your team needs enough context to represent you accurately, along with material it can actually use. You do not need an elaborate presentation. A shared folder and a short brief are often enough to begin the conversation. Here is what to prepare before agreeing on a publishing schedule.

Your artist identity

Send your preferred artist name, a short biography, a current photo, and links to your music and existing social accounts. Include pronunciation notes and any words you want kept in their original form. If a release has collaborators, list the correct credits. Flag outdated information so it does not appear in new copy.

Your goal for the month

Explain the reason for starting now. You might be preparing a release, responding to interest from China, or testing whether you can maintain a consistent presence. Pick one main goal and describe what you would like to learn. Avoid treating a follower target as a guaranteed result of publishing a fixed number of posts.

Usable source material

Share original photos and video files where possible, rather than downloaded copies of posts. Add lyrics or a transcript when words are difficult to hear. Tell the team which clips are ready to use, which need approval, and which should remain private. You can also include examples of captions that sound like you, plus examples that do not.

Permission and practical limits

Identify who can approve the use of each asset and flag third-party footage, photography, or music that needs a separate check. Agree on the intended use before anything is published. This is also the time to state boundaries around edits, unreleased material, personal information, and responses to sensitive questions.

Dates, access, and approvals

Provide release dates with a time zone, any embargoes, and the person responsible for approving content. Agree on a realistic review window. For accounts, describe the current status and who controls them. Your team should explain the access it needs and the available setup process; do not put passwords or identity documents in an ordinary content brief.

At Next Chorus, we provide a plain-English version of the Chinese captions and subtitles, with notes on changes to tone or meaning. One round of revisions per piece covers both platform versions. Choose one person to gather your feedback so we can make the changes in one pass. You approve the drafts before we deliver finished files for one-off services or publish them with Artist Care.

A simple reporting agreement

Confirm what the monthly update will cover: published content, available performance data, recurring audience questions, and suggested next steps. Decide how collaboration inquiries should reach you. Account setup, content editing, posting, and community replies are separate tasks, so check which ones are included in your plan.
